I've got some neglected clematis and honeysuckle growing up my back garden wall that has been growing as it pleases for about 5 years. It's got very top heavy and scruffy and I was wondering about giving them a dramatic prune: is this advisable and when is the best time for it?

no idea what type of clematis, I planted several 5 years ago and despite best intentions, didn't keep the information card. I might try for late Spring/early Summer then and cover both bases. Thanks for the tip about honeysuckle

What month does your clematis flower molly-bronski as that will decide the pruning.
