I found these guys in my garden eating my all my strawberries last year and now this year I found them in my allotment devouring all my carrots. Can anyone tell me what I am dealing with here, what causes them and how I might stop them from eating my fruit and veg?

Note: the photo makes them look a lot bigger than they actually are, to the naked eye they appear to be tiny string like millipedes.

They look like millepedes are not usually harmful in the garden and are really quite beneficial since they convert organic matter into plant food to help your plants grow. So what could be eating you Strawberries, carrots have another look maybe, earwigs, Carrot fly etc,,,
