Hi all,
I am developing a new flower bed/boarder at the front of a very windy site in North Cork, and am wondering, what should I plant to give me good colour in May? We have a Communion and Confirmation next May, so I'd love as much colour as I can. The bed is about 30 foot long, banana shaped.
Thank you! Smile

It depends what part of May you want to plan for....a month makes a huge difference at that time of year. I would suggest lupins, aquilegias, astrantias, geraniums, oriental poppies, helianthemums and alliums.
My only concern would be that if it's a new bed, you would have to buy quite a lot of fairly large plants to fill it. And if you plant enough to make the bed look well in 2013, it is bound to be totally overcrowded in another couple of years.!
I'm not sure there is an easy instant solution, but other people on the forum may have much better ideas than I have given you. Good luck.
