Hi All;
My allotment this year is a disaster, ni matter how much i try to keep on top of it, i cant get rid of the nettles etc. Whats the best spray to kill these off and other weeds. I want to spray it, cover the allotment up with the black sheets and then spray again in feb.

Roundup is probably the best spray to use.
Plastic deprives the soil of water and air all needed by bacteria to break down the soil. |

Aye, use Glyphosate. It breaks down really quickly on contact with soil, and is relatively safe (don't drink it neat!). I wouldn't go for the Roundup brand though, it's really expensive, and they are at the forefront of GM promotion. Get whatever is cheapest (Gallup, where I am). Spray, then cover up. I use cardboard and grass clippings. You should only need one or two hits, then you'll be able to keep it under control by hand weeding. |
