I have a standard 240 Litre compost bin which is currently 75 % full. This year I have noticed that there is a colony of ants in the bin. Is this a problem if I wish to use some of the compost or is there a method of getting rid of the ants? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks James. Do you think that if I put compost containing ants out on plants they would do no harm to plants. Thanks again for your help.

They are not a pest of plants so it should be safe enough.
