Hi, I bought a star jasmine climber to cover an unsightly metal pole at the front of my house. Can it survive for long in a container? If so, what size container should I transfer it to? It's about 6ft tall. The house faces southeast - would I need to bring the plant in during winter? Many thanks. |

A beautuful scented plant Trachelospermum jasminoides I do believe our friends the taxominists have renamed it again Rhyncospermum jasminoides but both names are in use, It survives ok outdoors here in Kildare-Dublin no problems, I have one in my garden which I grew from a hardwood cutting 2 years ago I kept it in a cold grenhouse for one season and planted it out this year and its thriving, At work we have a large one growing in a 25lt pot for approx 10years never repotted but its thriving it suffered from mealy bugs but and insecticide took care of that It even survived outside in the very bad winter 2 years ago even with temps of -13 so its hardy enough.
I hope it gets to flower for you as its welll worth the wait. |
