Bergenia cordifolia 'Purpurea' facts and information.

This is a tough individual with glossy green rounded leaves.
The leaves have a leathery texture causing some people to exclaim "That's not a flowering plant, that's just a head of cabbage".
Well if you saw it in bloom with its magenta-purple flowers you would not confuse it with a vegetable, especially when that bloom period is from mid-winter to mid-spring.
Give the Berginia space to reach its size of 0.6 metre (24 inches) in height and 0.6 metre (24 inches) in width.
It thrives in all soils and requires sun to partial shade.
One final ace that the Berginia has up its sleeve is the purple tint that its leaves receive when we get some cold weather.
This evergreen perennial is a worthy addition to your winter colour-givers.

If you are looking to plant some Bergenia you should be able to pick some up here.....Bergenia
