Dear All...

Planted well-chitted first-earlies over a month ago and they've been pushing up out of the dirt quite nicely. I went to earth them up a little today and noticed some of the shoots were dark green and rotting. I know it's been cold over the past few nights but didn't notice a significant frost - is this what's done it? Surely it's too early for blight?

Any how - those rotting leaves and shoots I've just pulled off... I've now covered them again with soil. Is this OK? Will they survive?

that was frost damage. You did the right thing by covering them with soil. They will grow again and faster than you expect.
