Hi - I'm going to grow toms and cucumbers in the tunnel soil this year, but I also want to try one or two of each in large pots too. I was wondering if watering them from below using capillary matting would work out? Idea being to have the pots sitting on top of a tupperware resevoir, with the wick feeding up to matting in a tray on which the pots would stand. If it works out it would help me rest the soil (especially for toms) every year or two. The tunnel is on an allotment plot so I can't get up every day to water.
Thanks for any feedback or just to shoot down the idea as unworkable. |
