I'm new to both Ireland and this site, but have a passion for gardening. Recently moved to Rathdrum and will be getting ready to start our veggie garden soon. I don't know much about the zones over here or weather patterns - so if someone has suggestions as to where to look for what will/won't grow and when to start in Rathdrum, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!

You only have to know two things about the weather in Rathdrum.
If you can see the mountains its going to rain.
If you cant see the mountains its raining already.
Enjoy your stay. |

Welcome Doodlebug, i'm from Rathdrum myself! Though i'm working in England at the moment... I think the general advise you get on this site is brilliant and you can gauge when and what to grow from that... |

Failte Doodlebug,
and I hope you get what you need from the community here. Average temperature nationally is around 13 deg. C with and a range of about 13deg. C throughout the year. Rarely get hard winters or searing summers mild and mostly benign climate so most things grow fairly well. The thing I find you have to be aware of is the wind chill factor if your site is exposed or frost in May if your in a hollow, always battling!
Regards, Ian |
