always seek the best advice which may not always be available within the group. Groups have failed because of a policy of the blind leading the blind. Find out what is the greatest interest amongst group, eg soil preparation, sowing /planting timetable, plant nutrition, control of weeds pests and diseases, rotation, use of tunnels frames and mulches, soil improvement. These are just some of the topics that need to be addressed to achieve some success

Greetings Cleo, best of luck with the group and welcome to "IrishGardeners". I second Ml. Brenock's advice and exhort you to get ALL members of the group to join Gardeners Forum and take part in the ongoing transfer of knowledge here. The collective knowledge here is only mighty.

Thanks to all for the advice. Mayo Organic Group has been going now for over 12 years, but only in recent years have we aimed to expand the membership to include gardeners with an interest in organics, as well as producers, & even those who do not grow but only use organics. Makes for an interesting mix. Within the membership there is a huge amount of experience & knowledge & we try to get out to other groups to help to spread this information, as well. Some of us are also part of the GIY network. But - for anyone interested - most meetings have very interesting topics. February is a presentation on Healthy Soil - teaming with life, & will include a brief look at Effective Micro-organisms, & Aerobically Activated Compost Teas. All welcome!
