My wife and I want to plant an dessert apple tree to commemorate several people who died at this time of year. (Parents, Grandparents, and one child.) The location is a few metres from a lake (Lough Derg), and there are several other apples, and crab apples nearby.
I have strimmer/rabbit guards, mulch mats, etc. and we intend to put a small plaque to keep the FAS lads from disregarding it. The idea is to provide a nice tree, that will provide fruit for everyone for the next generations, and somewhere for us to go to enjoy memories.
Any ideas on an Irish variety that would do well in a situation like this?
(Edit) the names are Sean, Lilly, Polly, and most importantly, Kitty Elizabeth. |
