Hello as a newcomer to this site I was hoping someone can lead me to somewhere that I can get spareparts. I have a Florabest shredder and the bag has now developed a lot of holes which has been eaten away by some pest or other.

The machine is only about 2 years old so it seems a waste to buy a new one.
HELP!

Hello

I think Florabest is either Lidl or Aldi ? I've rarely seen spare parts available in either shop, but their equipment is generally accompanied by a guarantee/leaflet giving a name and address -- usually in the UK -- to contact in the event of problems.

If you still have your leaflet, you could enquire about purchasing a replacement bag. Unfortunately, the P&P from the UK might be exorbitantly expensive.

One possible option -- if there aren't too many holes -- might be to try a bicycle puncture repair kit or duct tape as a stopgap solution ?

Alternatively, if you have access to a reasonably heavy duty sewing machine, you could have a go at re-creating the bag in a similar fabric to the original.

Just one more thought... ... you could try posting a "want" on FreeCycle or FreeTradeIreland.ie. There's always the chance that someone with a broken machine would be more than happy to give you both the machine (for future spare parts) and the bag.

Like you, I hate to waste a perfectly good machine. Best of Luck ! Do let us know how you get on.

I have taped over the holes as best I can but they are so near the connection points it may not work. (I have yet to try it out)

Thank you for your other tips which I will also pursue.

Many thanks. Smile

PS I am in the UK

If you're in the UK, getting a replacement should be a -- hopefully, inexpensive ! -- doddle.

Best of luck in getting it sorted ... whichever route you decide to take !

I've used Florabest (LIDL ownbrand) products but not the shredder. I spose yours is the one attached? I'm assuming it's the collection bag is rotting? My own shredder came from LIDL, but is German and does not have a collection bag. I use a canvas shopping bag as a collector. BTW, I think you'll be disappointed in your search for a replacement bag. But if you keep the machine clean and in good order it should keep shredding Oh! Also! Welcome to the Forum!

Hello,

Thank you for your warm welcome and comments. No I don't think I will be successful but will probably cobble up some sort of bag myself. Rolling Eyes

Regards,
Eileen.
