I have lavender planted in window boxes which I have placed around the decking, sitting on top of the handrails part which gives a delightful scent and floral display all the way around the deck.
With the winter coming I am concerned about them being blown off the rail and falling onto the deck, damaging the plants.
I dont have anywhere to store the boxes indoors so I am leaning towards securing them to the decking where they are.
I was going to go the obvious route of screwing them down to the decking but though others might have some tips. |

Just athought, Colin, are you going to leave them screwed in position next summer? I think if you leave them on the deck and lift them next year your going to have a lot of different coloured patches on the decking. (From damp underneath the boxes) along with your own colony of woodlice. Is there no way you could drill them at the back and secure them with plastic tyes to the rails a cuple of inches off the ground, maybe sitting on a cuple of 2x1 battons to allow air underneath. Don"t know if this helps, sorry. |
