This is a private garden that opens to the public one day a year. The people who own it say this year is the last unfortunately. Gorgeous place though, pronounced Japanese influence, quite small on a steep slope but so much packed in.

That's too bad.....I never got to see it, but I have seen photos of it in a magazine and it looked lovely.
Do you know why it will no longer be open to the public ? Are the owners moving ? It must be a huge wrench to leave a garden that you have created from scratch........

It's too much hard work and they're getting old...

I don't know if they're selling up. If it was mine I don't think I could leave. Perhaps the next generation will take over and continue Smile

would you be able to buy someone else's garden like that and maintain it though? you wouldn't have a sense of ownership.

Heads Up!! This garden is having an open day on 3 June 2012 - Bank Holiday Monday. Highly recommended if anyone is in the vicinity.
