Hello All,
I planted early potatoes (Home Gaurd) on March 25th -these were chitted-also Maincrop (King Edwards) - not chitted on the same day.
Now the Maincrop are starting to show flower buds but the earlies are not, this should be the other way round, both are in well prepared raised beds, and are looking robust and healthy, about 15 to 18 inches tall.Any comments would be appreciated.

the presence of blossom is no indication of presence or maturity of potato tubers. The flowers or blossoms usually indicate that the plants are ready to reproduce sexually while the tubers are the abnormal method of reproduction in potatoes. The tubers are usually formed but not fully grown when the blossom appears. It is always better to check a sample stalk and check for size.
