say someone offers you up to ten acres of land - how much would you take as an optimum size to garden, and what would you do with it?

If i had 10 acres of land 8 would be turned into a lake for fishing, one for growing my veg and the last one for the house and garden.

i reckon 8 acres i'd plant with birch as a nurse tree in a nascent woodland, and the other half would probably take one acre for a horse, leaving an acre for a nice wildlife garden, with a pond, and a good sized allotment.

A community garden. Fruit orchards, veg plots, living willow tunnels and sculpture. A big wildlife pond to go pond dipping for the kids. A decent area in the middle with a proper barbecue and wood oven for people to use. Loads of herbs scattered through, a couple of pigs, some guinea fowl and quail.

I'd define areas, connected by willow tunnels, wisteria tunnels etc. It'd be like a little labyrinthine area for everybody to use and enjoy. Oh, and a big polytunnel, and a BIG shed. Maybe two- one for storage, and one for a bring it yourself dining/chilling out area if it rains.

I'd love to have a few acres to plant trees, particularly nut and fruit trees, I like the idea of having lots of walnut, sweet chestnut and hazel trees.

Definetly it would have to be planting lots of organic fruit and vegatables. You can never be too healthy! Or get a landscaper to design crazy design!
