I have found by placing a handful of small stones (driveway gravel) around the stem of each cabbage plant , the slugs can't travel over the rough stone to reach the cabbage plants. _________________ To err is human to mess things up completely use a computer |

On tonight's Gardner's World, Monty Don placed Comfrey leaves at the base of his Hosta's... the idea is that the slugs prefer the comfrey. _________________ "But no one puts flowers

Having a few hens, I keep the eggshells, crush them and put them around young plants, Other than that I keep all my plastic bottles, cut top and bottom off, and place over the young plants, Instant greenhouse! and slugproof.(as long as you have"nt got 500 plants) |

I have found the most successful way to stop slugs having a feast, is to put lots of seaweed on the beds, and especially around the edges of raised bed, and the slugs hate it. I have tried the egg shells but they attracted rats, so I am sticking to the seaweed. |
