These are two tree-shrubs I really love and want to know more about...if I only knew what name to look up.

The red one was taken last October and also appears in yellow shades - really pretty.

The other shrub seems to be very popular and I would like to spread it around the garden if I knew how. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Ruby, I don't seem to be getting two photos...did you post two ?
Anyway, the shrub with the pale yellow flowers is called potentilla ( fruticosa I think ).....a great little shrub which a lot of people look down on precisely because it does so well and is used a lot ! But I'm very fond of all the potentillas, google them and you'll find various varieties, colours etc.

Ooops, we've crossed wires, just saw your second photo, and I'm pretty sure it's a purple leafed Berberis.
Maybe someone else could confirm that ?

Sive,

What a speedy response!

Oh dear, looking down the nose at simple plants brings to mind a TV like Come Garden With Me.

I think they look really pretty regardless.

Thanks, Wink

Hi Ruby, I' doing housework all day as we've had rain here, and the housework gets really neglected in fine weather. So I'm afraid I'm popping in more than I should to the forum as a distraction from the dreaded hoover.....just happened to see your post as soon as you had written it !

I love the rain - it saves on watering and leaves time for hosework ...and the internet. Of course, I don't say that in public, Wink
