Hi there,
I'm new to gardening, and have a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I planted some seedlings a few weeks ago (turnips, parsley & lettuce). I surrounded them with sand to protect from slugs and covered with a net to protect from birds. So far so good...
However, I noticed white discolouration on the leaves, and the leaves were being eaten shortly after that.
Can anyone suggest what it might be, and how I might stop it? I've got lots more seedlings that I'm afraid to plant out before I sort this out!

Sorry, I don't have any pictures of it to hand

Thanks,
Conor

the only pest that I can think of is the slug, the white marks are probably the slime left. Put out some slug bait. Try putting up a picture.

Hi Conoror,

I am not a fan of slug pellets, so I put seaweed around all the plants that the slugs love, so that may be something you could look into.

Other gardeners on the forum use collars. Have your tried to use the google bar at the top of the page for slug deterents?
