I don't know if anyone else has noticed the road verges covered in dandelions this year. This article in today's Irish Times explains why this is the case and it is most interesting:

Not a great explanation for the dandelions either for the increase in population or for the early flowering. Dandelions will flower in their first year but the vast majority of the flowers we see at present are more than one year old, While the vast majority of the yellow flowered Compositae in bloom at present are dandelions there are also many others such as Cats ears, Hawkweed and Hawksbit and Hawksbeard.
