I'd like to find a free program to map out my small garden. I'd need a grid background (so I can say 1 square = 1 foot) and the ability to draw box shapes, rhomboids, ellipses and freehand curves. I want to use it to plan veg rotations and spacings, and to keep a record of what I did each year, and the results. It'd just be neater and simpler than using graph paper, plus, I can only see in one eye, so drawing is not my forté!. Any ideas? |

Google sketchup is a good enough program, you can view what you have made in 3D as well _________________ there are 3 types of people in the world, those that can count and those that can't... |

Thanks. It could work, but doesn't have a grid feature- I want to be able to zoom right in to plan plant spacings for block planting different veg. |

BG-Map is very easy to use and very powerful software being used a lot for mapping the garden. This system allows you to produce simple maps without going through complex procedure and various technical jargon. It can be used very easily by non-technical staff as well. |

Looked up BGmap. Looks like a very good program. One problem. If I had $7,200, I'd have a new garden. Come to that, I'd have enough for a new garden, a complete revamp of the one I have, and enough left over to see my sister in California for two weeks. Sorry. Thanks for the input. If I didn't know better, I might think you were advertising by the back door... |
