Hi All

I wonder can anyone tell me what is going on with this pear tree. It's about 12 / 14 years old and had a very tight habit - probably my neglect in pruning.

It appeared to be developing a growth from the root stock which I removed when I noticed it but part of the grafted stem got damaged two years ago and I needed to remove a strong branch. I didn't think at the time that I removed the whole of the grafted tree but this photo looks to me as if its all root stock just throwing up numerous wild branches which grow straight up towards the sky regardless of the angle of the branch from which it's growing.

Although it had been a heavy producer in good seasons, It didn't produce any fruit last year.

I realise its a poor photo to see detail but when it has leaves it's impossible to see the skeleton. There are fruit bushes growing beneath it, so ignore these branches.

Thanks
SG
