No matter how big or small your growing space is, there is nothing more satisfying than being able to go out and pick your own vegetables and salads. Home grown produce directly from your garden is food at it's freshest and best.

All this can be done organically too and can save you money in the long run.
This one day workshop at the emmaus retreat Centre in Swords gets you started with some of the essential "know how", -on time for the 2011 growing season.

The Workshop will cover: * Sowing and growing demonstrations * Tuition and tips on favourite vegetable requests from the group * Organic principles applied. * Converting from lawn and soil care * Making raised beds * Opportunities to learn and practice techniques.
Michael Fox is a gardening instructor and has been growing produce in gardens and allotments for the past 27 years. He is founder and chairperson of South Dublin Allotments Association. He received an RDS Allotment Award in 2010 for his allotment in Tymon Park. He runs his Plot to Pot Gardening Courses in Terenure and in various venues across Dublin. He is also a psychotherapist and a trained teacher in adult education.

The Workshop will take place at the Emmaus retreat centre, Lissenhall, Swords, Co Dublin on 17th April and will run from 10am - 4.30pm.

The cost for the day which includes a light lunch and materials is €50.00 and more information is available from Emmaus on 01-8700050.
