I have a number of asparagus plants in their second year but I need to move them to another bed to stop the dogs digging them up.
Does any one have any advice on moving them safely? |

Go onto "Google" and Type in "How to Transplant Established Asparagus" you will find all the Information you require and more,I was amazed at the amount of simple Instructions which even I could follow,
Hope that is of some help to you.

Thanks for the advice, plants are moved....semi-successfully...the dog decided he wanted to see what I was burying in the new bed!!
On a different note I've ordered some new 2 year old spears to plant immediatly. Will I be able to harvest them this year to eat?
Thanks.
Brogan. |

Hi Brogan, you should not harvest them in their second year and only lightly in their third year. We have our asparagus bed surrounded with chicken wire to keep dogs etc out as the newly emerging spears can be easily damaged. |
