Not strictly gardening I know, but a lot of us who like food and gardening
are concerned about other issues.
Recently Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall in the UK started a
very admirable campaign to reform fisheries policy
in the EU.
The campaign is called Fish Fight, and I support it. I would really
reccommend that you visit the site - www.fishfight.net- and get informed.
I really lik the campaign he has started
There is also a facebook page you can join to support the campaign -
http://www.facebook.com/hughsfishfight
Due to EU policy we have the obscene situation where half the
fish caught at sea are dumped.
It is to me outrageous that perfectly good food is being wasted,
and the bizarre practice means animals are needlessly
and pointlessly killed.
I for one think the campaign is worthwhile, it affects all the EU
so I signed up for it.
I will be doing some more fish recipes soon, concentrating on fish
other than cod, haddock and salmon.
A well as that I made flyers for 3 butchers who also sell fish
so far in Connemara.
Made up the file and they can print off as many as they like -
so if your buddies with a butcher
you might consider it, might even get you some free fish!!
One side is fish info, the other side is used for recipes.
Each information sheet is designed to fit on a page of A4

Fairly the same attiude - I woud not agree with him on Salmon farming, his take is - to be blunt - quite elitist, and associatin farmed salmon with the disgard policy is disengenuous - however, the fish discard policy in the EU and shark fin fisheries in the east are abysmal. _________________ My Garden blog
