I have ivy growing in my garden and want rid of it how do I go about this  |

I'm afraid there is no easy way out of this problem other than a sheer hard slog, your going to have to dig out every Root you can find and more.
Ivy is among the hardest Invaders to get rid of but it can be done.if the Ivy is established on a wall remove it cutting it just above ground level until your left with just the Root then I'm afraid its time for the spade to start earning its keep.
Total removal is the only solution,you could try one of the weed killers but you dont know what other damage your going to do and even if a pin-head of the Ivy survives its going to reappear Threefold.
I cleared my back garden (your typical Estate garden) in 2 Days when I lived in Dublin the entire back and side walls were covered in it, never had the problem again.
