Hi
I have several tomato plants in a greenhouse, all producing masses of fruit but should I cut the straggly leggy tops off the plants and will this prevent the green toms ripening?
Many thanks |

it is no harm to cut off the tops and it wont affect the ripening of your green tomatoes |

I have also seen (and used) the advice that along with the tops, cut out the bottom tiers of leaves as they will be starting to wilt and also cut away leaves that shade the toms from the sun. Cutting off extra foliage concentrates the plants' energies into ripening the fruit. I did all this a couple of weeks ago and have seen quite quick ripening of my tomato crop. _________________ Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
