We planted a plum tree about three years ago and for the first three years it bore no fruit - my wife threatened the tree with removal this year and it has produced an abundance of plums (see picture)!! There did appear to be a fungal infection on some of the plums and I wondered can somebody help me identify it? I removed the affected plums and discarded them and have inspected the tree regularly to remove any more and watch for spreading.

Also I'd appreciate if someone could verify if my "Marjorie's Seedling" variety is correct and if threatening the plant with destruction causes heavy cropping!
