Anyone done this?

Sounds odd at first.

I've just tried it with a palm this afternoon. Makes me feel a bit uneasy, though.

I would too feel uneasy shoving the pot 'n all in the ground, but am tempted to give it a go.

I lost my european fan palm, still in its container over the winter, I planted it as the shoots were still green, and still are.. .but no growth so far.. so watch this space...

what palm did u plant KS?

Trachycarpus fortunei

I think I'm going to dig it up again and unpot it. It just doesn't "feel" right to me.
