Hi
We have a v tall bay leaf tree (30ft) and the leaves on upper part of tree are brown and withered. I have noticed that other bay leaf trees in our area are also suffering but not to same degree as ours but ours is also the tallest. Hope someone can help?

Has it been like that since the really cold weather last winter or have the leaves only recently turned brown and withered?

I have two bay leaf trees in pots and they went completely brown after the cold weather. I thought the cold weather had killed them and this was confirmed for me in the local garden centre last week. They had about ten bay leaf trees gathered in a corner for throwing out as they were all killed by the cold weather. It seems to have hit the trees in pots worse than those planted in the ground. My brother has one planted and it got some damage and brown leaves but is recovering and has new growth this year. I have noticed all the trees outside a local shopping centre have all gone the same way but there are new shoots that seem to be coming from the roots.
