hi all
I went to Bloom 2010 on fri 4th June, its was my first time and I was amazed. It was a fab day out with lots to look at and the Victorian Wall gardens were excellent, there were plenty of plants available to purchase at very cheap prices. Everyone was very friendly and chatty, the show gardens and floral displays were top class. As for the hanging basket displays they were just amazing. I think its a place that everyone should visit, I am already looking forward to next years show : Very Happy Laughing

I went to visit Bloom on Sunday and was disappointed that the day was so wet. I was scheduled to give a talk and demonstration on vegetable growing at 3 pm on Sunday and Monday. This was cancelled because of the rain as if this was a very rare occurrence. A number of gardeners contacted me expressing disappointment at the cancellation but it was outside my control. many were of the opinion that it was too early in the year for vegetables but I think the time is right as there is still time to do some sowing and planting. Many thanks for all the support and messages.

I was very impressed with the display of veg on one stall in the main pavillion{I think it received a gold} , it was as good as anything shown on the chelsea flower show, I was gob smacked at the amount of different varieties of tomatoes available, the overall display was amazing.

Anyone got any pics of the show? What are the trends and what is the new and best for the year. I'm starting to come around about new cultivars. Always a stickler about the fact that it's the grower who makes the plant - I have come to the conclusion that science is improving the blooming and hardiness of some of the plants to make them optimal for conditions, tolerance and productivity. I've seen some magnificent specimens straight out of the nurseries lately to make me change my tune.
