I have 1/4 acre at the back of my garden which was sown last year with potatoes. It is now ploughed and tilled, very roughly,ie it is not ready for lawn seed.I would like to sow some wild colour in this space as i have 2 acres of grass in front of this space. If i sow some wild flowers do i need to sow grass also.I would like this to be minimum maintenance.Where would i source "something different for this area,n.b. my only perogative is colour,All help is appreciated

Hi Jimmy - although I admire your endeavor to create a wildflower garden, to undertake such a project just for color may lead to disappointment.

I am not saying you won't have a flower in site, but I think you will get much more joy from it if your reasons were different - fauna, flora diversity and overall increased insect activity.

Read an inspiring story here

Purchase wildflower seeds

All the best.
