I bought Michael's book yesterday ( The Irish Gardener's Handbook ) and just as I expected, it is packed full of good advice, clearly laid out. I heartily recommend it to anyone growing their own vegetables and fruit.
I suspect it will be constantly referred to in our house. Thanks Michael, this is a wealth of information you are passing on and it is much appreciated.[/i] |

Just came on to congratulate Michael but now see that I have been beaten to it. Well done Michael. The book can be got directly from O Brien press online. I have just been on their site. _________________ Is ar scáth a chéile a mairimid |

you can buy in for the web site below
The Irish Gardener's Handbook
How to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit
by Michael Brenock
Want to get into gardening? Wondering how to get started? Anxious that you won't know what to do? Have given up before, want to get started again? Want to improve your growing, yields and practices? This is the book for you.
It takes you through all the most commonly grown vegetables and fruits in the context of Irish conditions. Learn from a gardener who has worked a garden since the 1940s as a child on his father's market garden, then as an adult home gardener and horticulturist, currently as an allotment advisor.
This book combines the old and most recent knowledge in one easy-to-follow text. It's a book you'll consult over and over, through the wayward Irish seasons.

I'm glad I picked up on this thread but thought any future readers might like to know that prices can vary enormously.
O'Brien Press €9.99 v Amozon $107.38.

Thanks for the advice but I've gone the O'Brien Press route already @ €9.99.
No doubt it'll still be excellent value. _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |
