Hello all,I have been reading through the information on this site and found it to be a great help. I am about to move into my first home which has quite a large garden. I want to plant a boundary hedge of about 25 metres. Was hoping to go for a beech hedge. Would it still be ok to plant a beech hedge( bare root) at the end of April or is this too late in the year. Would appreciate any advice for a complete novice ! |

you would still be in time to plant bare root Beech plants then. Plant the same day as they are lifted. A Beech hedge is very hardy but has to be trimmed every year otherwise they will grow into big trees. Beech is popular because the leaves though dead remain in the hedge throughout the Winter.
