Hi, two hebes (tricolour) that I planted last year are looking very sorry for themselves after all the snow and frost, a few leaves still clinging on here and there but look sick. Have been looking at Hebe sites and some articles say to prune back hard after severe frost damage, wait a couple of weeks to see if new growth and then prune again. I was wondering if anybody out there has had success with this and the shrubs have recovered, am loath to take them up if they can be saved. Also, two Goldcrest are looking sad with a lot of discolouration one side, they seem healthy enough, will they green up again with the Spring or are they on the way out?. Any advice welcome, thanks.

Hi f&vlady
I too am in the same boat as you, two of my three Hebe vernicosa's are practically leafless. I think as its been a remarkably harsh winter, many evergreen shrubs have been hard.
We'll have to wait and see.
