I just got my first 4 chickens(ready to lay in 4 weeks)I have them 2 days but they seem to spentd most of their time in the box sitting in the nesting boxs and on the floor of the box. They dont seem to be eating much yet.Is it because they may not be used to being outside. The box i have was purpose built. In my ignorance i am afraid that they will starve.I am feeding them layers pellets only for the 1st month as advised by Martins poultry which is where i bought them. They are isa reds according to them also.Any words of comfort.Cheers |

Are they rescue chickens?
if so it will take time for them to adjust the new environment.

I do not like the way chickens are kept in cages.
I try to go for organic chicken my self. |

In my young day chickens were always free range and Nuns were kept in a convent.
Today all nuns are free to go anywhere but chickens are confined.
