Mold and root rot will spoil a whole tray of seedlings - mostly coming from over watering, and cramping too many plants with little air circulation. A good spritzer of hydrogen peroxide can prevent the damage, to some degree. Here's a good summary of the benefits of using a mild concoction on all plants. http://www.ehow.com/how_2364185_use-hydrogen-peroxide-garden.html

To get the damp out of your tray, put in some clay pellets, or wick away with a folded up piece of paper towel.
