Hi All,
I first discovered the Irish Gardener's Forum last week and I haven't had time to read through the posts yet but I just thought I would register and introduce myself before I go any further.
As the username might discreetly suggest I don't have much gardening experience and I have to confess to the murder of no small number of flowers and plants. But I have good intentions to mend my ways and become a conscientious gardener who tends to the whims and vagaries of my botanical friends.
I am just about to move into a second-hand house in the countryside and have about a 1/2 an acre of unkempt and boggy ground that I dare say never seen a spade. I have a long-term vision of a beautiful space where vegetables can grown organically, flowers will be abundant and feed the bees, native hedgerows will be home for visiting birds, worms will migrate for miles to inhabit the rich soils of my garden......in the meantime I will have to do some serious reading, chatting on sites like this and of course experimental gardening.
So where I can I will help you fellow gardeners on this site. I look forward to "growing" with you.

Hello AB,
There's a lot of beginners on here so you're not alone, luckily there a few pros as well or we would all be lost and they are great for answering questions. It sounds like you have similar plans to myself except that my house is a new build. There's a photo gallery fourm which you might consider posting some photos of your garden on as it is now, you can then update the thread as you develop and you can get some ideas/pointers from others. I intend doing the same one of these days, when I get around to taking the photos

Thank you fellow earth-diggers for your kind welcomes.
Yes, I think that AB is an especially suitable acronym for me as the position of letters A and B in the alpabet just about represents where I am as a gardener - I will mark my progress by the alphabet!
Good idea about posting progress photos of the house cross-eyed sheep. I have not moved into the house yet but when I do (or when my solicitor decides to rouse himself from his lethargy) I will post a photo.
