Welcome Mac McDonald- O.R.G.
412% above normal rainfall, wow, sounds like we exported some Irish weather to you.
Member bugs has created a weather section under the general discussion topics.
You might want to post the odd weather report from California there to let us know what we are missing.

Hi all, Novice here from the midlands - new to gardening but enjoying learning. Not a bird watcher (yet) but facinated by the swallows that nested here this year - the young seem to be teasing our puppy!

Hi there, forum looks great, well done.

I am a novice gardener from Monaghan. I have some seed pods from a common verburnum and I would like to know how to propagate them? Any help appreciated.

Ben

Thank you Sugar_Ape ! Very Happy You've some challenge ahead of you BenWeedy Viburnum seeds can been sown fresh in the late autumn on a soil based compost and covered with 5mm of small sized gravel. Leave outside over winter as they need temperature stratification and expect to wait 6-18 months for the seedlings to appear. Transplant and grow on for two more years and Presto! Laughing If you've been holding onto the pods for a while and they are dried out open the pods and place the seeds in the fridge until spring and sow the same way...they should germinate the following year!

Thanks Kevin G.

The common Verburnum seed I have are from a large tree at least 18 Meters high, from other websites it appears that common verburnum is normally kept as a small shrub, even in hedge rows.
Has anyone in the forum used common verburnum in a planting scheme? Whats your advise, I want to plant a small incline 3 M x 20 M with a mix of shrubs and small trees? Is it a suitable species?
Thanks.

Ben go to the shrubs and hedge section where all the info you require on Viburnum is . 18 metres is over 50 feet , the average 2 story house is 30 feet , are you sure its Viburnum ?

Maybe you meant a Viburnum18 ft high, BenWeedy. If that is the case it could be Vibunum odaratissimum which grows to a small tree of 15-20ft.

Oh and welcome to Irish gardeners Benweedy and KevinG
