Hi Guys, I have a quick question...Will my overwintering Onions and Cabbage be destroyed whenever the snow melts and the severe frosts disappear? |

Onions, garlic and broad beans should be ok to handle a bit of frost and will be happy to stand in snow for a while. Some of the shoots might be damaged but will most likely regrow. This year seems to be particularly cold and we have a long period of frost. I have my onions, garlic, broad beans and a hardy pea variety under a garden fleece. Not sure if that will help. My allotment is in Glencullen and its frozen over since Christmas. I was up once during the warmer spell and all looked fine so far. |
