Hi,
Has anyone tried or had any success in growing oats? I've developed a taste for porridge recently, and thought it might be fun to try growing my own. I understand they're a hardy enough cereal.

I just checked my John Seymour book (Self-sufficiency) as it is always interesting to learn something new.
It seems oats tolerate wetter, colder and more acid soil than wheat.
And he pours scorn on anyone who adds sugar to their porridge, saying you should only add milk ( or cream ) and salt.
So much for my daily spoon of honey on my porridge! |

I enjoy honey too, but I do make it with milk though...am I worthy of scorn or not? |
