Some folks call them heirloom varieties, others call them heritage varieties... I'm wondering about Irish heirloom vegetables. I looked at what's available at Irish Seed Savers, and was puzzled that there were few from Ireland originally (at least on the web site). I haven't turned up much on other searches. Surely these still exist? Are they staying in family hands, or have they already become extinct? Or have I simply not looked hard enough? (I did use this site's search function before I asked.) I was thrilled to see the wide variety of apples, but where are the old-time vegetables?
