i have ordered a dwarf cyprus (chamaecyparis pisifera) from my local garden centre it should arrive at the end of the month and i was looking for some advice about it like should i dig and prepare the hole its going into though my soil isnt great would i be better raising it up in a raised bed |

Hi,
There is no great problem in planting dwarf cypresses, except that most of them are not very dwarf in the long run.
They are not fussy and if you take out a hole about twice the size of the pot it comes in and add some grit ( for drainage, if needed) and some compost (leaf mould or peat) you should not have any problem.
You have not said what the cultivar is, but many a 'dwarf' cypress ends up being axed because it outgrew it's space. Good luck anyway. |
