My 6 Mirabilis plants have, as I was told they would in this climate, now turned yellow and defoliated themselves down to their pink stalks. I have dried the pots out gradually until they are very nearly dry, and have put them in a cool, dark place. They have formed fiber covered tubers which are about three quaters of an inch across. So far so good, but I am not sure whether to leave them in their pots now or to lift them. Does anyone know the best way to store them over the winter? I know that if you get it right they have a chance of surviving. Any advise on the best way to do this would be very welcome, or experiences of them not surviving might be useful too, so that I know what to avoid.
