Hi all
Silly question I know but what do I do with my strawberry plant!? I got a beautiful plant form a friend in June and planted it in a hanging basket, it did pretty well and produced a hand full of berries for me for a few weeks then the flowers started to die and go brown but the plant still seems healthy and is growing lots of runners. So what do I do with these, I read about pegging these down if the plants are grown in a bed but what do I do in a basket, cut them?
Thanks from a Very novice gardener!!!

Hi Emma
It's not a silly question at all. The runners from the parent plant have the potential to become new strawberry plants. So if possible try to plant it into the ground for the next few months to allow these new guys to root. Give it a good feed and you should have loads more for planting back into hanging baskets next year . Here's what I did with mine ........

My strawberry plants gave me at a guess 5 friuts this year compared to last year. But yet I have been getting so many runners from them its crazy. I am hoping they will give me fruit next year.
