Hi there I am part of a group who have a community garden at Festina Lente, Bray, Co. Wicklow. It is a charity equestrian organisation that caters for people with a disability re courses, employment etc. There is a large walled garden there which has been almost fully restored that caters for those who have had cancer, allotments and a community garden. There are 12 of us involved in the community garden, we met in March and got together and dug up three 62sqm plots and planted a wide range of vegetables, flowers and a little fruit. Everything took off and we are now reaping the benefits for the past two months. Great to have fresh potatoes, onions, shallots, celery, carrots, peas, beans, cabbage, beetroot, corgettes, cucumber, marrow, tomatoes, dahlias, sunflowers and strawberries. Everything has worked well though the celery is still thin and slow! It has been a great experience, particulary for my kids who get a bigt thrill pulling up the carrots and picking the peas etc. It's so easy to grow your own food and look forward to repeating it next year!
