I had a Jay in the garden this morning. It's only my fourth sighting of this bird in this part of Kerry over the past twenty years or more. Anyone else see them?

Hi Sean,
I've seen Jay's fairly often over the last ten years where I'm living - not sure whereabouts you are in Kerry but I'm near Ballingeary which isn't too far from the Cork-Kerry border.

Hallo Jenny,
I'm away up in mid-Kerry. You're within the recognised range where you are, but I'm just outside the westerly edge. They're in the Killarney National Park all right, but I'm west of that, so I very rarely get them. I wonder if they're extending their range. I planted ten acres of forest some years back, so I'm hopeful; I think the complete absence of any sizeable mature woodland around here is the limiting factor.
