One day course:
"Nature-Friendly Gardening and Growing for the Kitchen" will be next held at our smallholding near Kiltegan in West Wicklow, 75 minutes from Dublin city centre, on 8th August 2009.
The day is aimed at new and existing gardeners and will include creating and maintaining a nature-friendly environment in your garden, raising home grown herbs, vegetables and fruit and keeping hens. Individuals, families and small groups welcome.
Places limited.
The cost of the day is €40 and includes a lunch of asian flavour, cooked by Mo Osman who will also run the course. He has been establishing a small holding for the last number of years, with a productive greenhouse, polytunnel and kitchen garden, on several acres and is involved with the weekly Country Market in Tullow.
The gardens received a Biodiversity Garden of Special Merit Award in the Corrin Hill Biodiversity Garden Awards 2008.
Participants who wish to make a weekend of it can combine the course with a stay at Tigh Na Ri Rua, the on-site restored thatched cottage, available for self catering let, as a great package.
[See http://www.visitwicklow.ie/accommodation/tigh_na_ri_rua.htm for cottage details].
