Hi,
I have a fremontodendron growing against my back wall. Despite all the issues with it being a skin irritant etc, I like it, particularly when the flowers bloom. However, this year, my leaves have gone all yellow, so the flowers dont stand out as much as they did when the leaves were glossy green, as in other years.
Any suggestions as to how I might get the leaves back to dark green?
Thanks, |

Where are you Aggie? I wouldn't think the recent dry weather would be affecting it, but lack of feeding might, or perhaps a root problem.
Having said all that, if your back wall faces south, then it could be on the dry side for it, dry soil also locks up essential nutrients. give a prolonged watering by leaving your hose pipe trickling at the roots. Check that the water has gone down right into the soil and not just wet the top inch or so, it will take a while, then mulch with garden compost or manure. Check there are no other problems though such sa root damage or root pests etc.

Im in Dublin 4. Think the wall may well be south facing, so wil water it and see how it goes. |
